Alterviolence
beaumontpublic, Luxembourg
2010

Through its sonoritiy the word Alterviolence seems to remind the topic of ultraviolence from Kubrick's Clockwork Orange. However, this 'other violence' here, is referred in watermark to something slow and soft. The large drawing is representing a kind of madness, where perverted violence is escaping from itself. The whole scene is swimming in an unhealthy world, where famous and mythological sharks are fighting slowly in a reflexive way. The mise en scène of an altercontemporary church with the drawing of a crucified Johnny Cash, puts a parrallel to the religious fascination that we have for the images broadcasted by the media, even if evil and violence is clearly recognized. The anti concept of this exhibition provides a snapshot that examines and defines the fragility of human being in the western civilisation.
